Can
I install FormZila on a USB (removable) drive and run it on different computers?
Theoretically,
FormZila
can be installed on and run from any drive. Practically, hardly will
you have a need to to install and run FormZila from a USB drive.
This is because, you must purchase a licence each for the computers where
every copy of FormZila will be installed.
If you have several
stand-alone computers and you are considering using FormZila
on each of them with a single Forms Data, then what you should do is this:
-
Install
FormZila
on each of the computers . Remember you must purchase licence for
each computer
-
Run FormZila.
Make
sure USB drive is plugged-in to your computer
-
Configure
FormZila
such that your forms data are kept on a USB drive. (Options and Settings
| Security | Folders: Keep forms data in this folder: here indicate
the full path to the USB Drive)
-
Hit Save All
and then Close to exit the options and settings forms
-
Repeat the procedure
on other computers.
That way, you now
have one database of forms data (on USB drive) that can be shared
by copies of FormZila on seperate computers.
Each time you
run FormZila it will check for information on the on USB drive.
Make sure USB drive is plugged-in to your computer, otherwise an error
message will be fired.
When you close
FormZila
remove the USB drive and use it on other computers

How
does FormZila work?
If
you are an active internet user, then you most probably have tens of logins
and passwords you need to login into your bank accounts, email accounts,
internet service account etc. What about product ordering forms, registration
forms, business bulletin board message forms and a host of other boring
forms, which you repeatedly fill and submit every time?
Remembering all
your login/password combinations for each website is not an easy task,
and in some cases simply impossible - if you have not settled for easy-to-remember,
easy-to-guess passwords, using your birth date, pet's name or some other
obvious choice and, unfortunately, risking your ID security.
Where you don't
have to remember login/password combinations, you still need to first open
the website home page, patiently wait while it downloads ads and
irrelevant content. That is even before you can type information into the
form.
First name,
last name, country, state, province, address, telephone, fax, email, url
etc. are the most common time-consuming data you fill-in.
This is where
FormZila
comes in.
-
When your browser
finishes downloading a web page that contains a web form with at least
2 empty fields (2 is the default number, can be adjusted in the options
settings section), FormZila will AutoDetect the form and pop-up
from the system tray.
-
In the top window,
FormZila
adds the web page to the listview table. If you have
many pages with
forms loaded, FormZila will list all of them in the table.
Note that only web pages containing forms are listed
-
To automatically
fill (fill-submit) a particular form, select the web page from the list,
right-click your mouse and choose the action you want (fill, fill-submit
or save). Alternatively, you can select the web page from the list
and double click it to auto fill the form.
-
By default, FormZila
will iterate through your previously saved form data files to pick
the exact one that matches the form on the web page you have selected and
then auto fill the form.
If you are visiting
the web page for the first time or no form data file matching the form
is found, FormZila automatically picks your Profile data
file as default form data to be used. If you do not want automatic selection
of form data, then in the combo box above the table, indicate the second
option - "Use my Profile Data to fill form".
Hint:
In the options
and settings page ( Forms and PassCards | Program behavior ) you
can also earlier specify a combination of what FormZila should do
after form detection, e.g. play sound and show pop-up alert message,
Auto Fill, Auto Submit forms without asking etc.
FormZila
can also work as search engines and search phrases organizer.

Can
I use my profile data to auto fill (auto submit) any web form online?
Yes you can. Not all, but most forms. See next question and answer below
for more details.
Before using
FormZila,
make sure you have duly completed and saved all necessary information into
your
Profile data file, specify necessary form detection, filling
and submission option(s), too. Remember, after form Detection, FormZila
can Auto Fill and Auto Submit forms even without asking you
or showing any message to inform you - it all depends on the option(s)
you have specified in the customization page ( Forms and PassCards |
Program behavior ).
You can manage
your profile data file in the Options and Settings section (sub
section Forms and PassCards | My Profile)

I
would like to create 1 profile for my business with all my business information,
and to be able to autofill many different forms (on various websites) for
directory listing submission, all with the same 1 profile.
At first glance, this may seem impossible, because there is no unified
way or rules guiding how to name form fields. It is entirely left to the
discreet of webmasters as to what name to give to a particular form field.
For different web sites, for examples, a form field referring to "City"
can be named thus: city, cityname, town, townname, l_city, my_city, locale,
location etc.
But
FormZila
is an intelligent form filler.
It solves this problem with ease.
Unlike most of other competing software in the market, FormZila
is equipped with advanced form field recognition mechanism that enables
you to use 1 profile data to auto fill thousands of different web forms.
Therefore, you
can create 1 profile and use it to auto fill forms (many different forms)
on various websites, be it for directory listing submission, login forms,
feedback forms, shopping cart forms, jobs forms etc. All with the same
1 profile.
Caution:
Here and now
we would like to under-promise, but over-deliver later on. In 9 out of
10 cases FormZila's advanced form field recognition mechanism
works fine. Even then we can not give 100% guarantee that all necessary
options for a particular web site will be present.
Top
What
are custom fields and how do I give names and values to them in my Profile
Data in the options and settings page?
My
Profile holds data that is specific to a person (not a particular site),
data that does not change regardless of what web site you visit, data such
as your name, phone numbers, street address, credit card type and number,
birth date. As the tab name suggests, information in the file relates
to your personal data and, by default, are encrypted and saved to file
named !My Profile.ptg , located in the folder you have indicated
in the General | Security section.
Conditionally,
My
Profile form field-value pairs are divided into two categories:
-
Common (or fixed
field names)
-
Custom (or flexible
field-value pairs)
The principal differences
are:
- Field names
in the Common category are not editable. Only their values are editable.
There are 26 field-value pairs Common category. Edit the information to
reflect your own.
- Field names
and values in the Custom category are editable. There are 20 customizable
field-value pairs at your disposal. You can give them names and values
of your choice. Here are some basic guidelines for handling the fields:
-
Try as much as possible
not to duplicate the names and values, which already exist in the Common
category (if you do, FormZila will prompt and notify you about this,
but will not discard the changes).
-
You can export your
Profile
Data to a plain text file and print it out for references, to avoid
duplicating the field names and values in future
-
For example, you
can rename the first custom field to read "mob_phone" and indicate
your mobile telephone number as the value. Or, for instance, "hobby"
as the field name and the phrase "hunting, fishing, swimming and
reading" as the value
-
Field names should
not include any white space. For example,
-
mob telephone -
wrong
-
mobtelephone - correct
-
mob_telephone -
also correct
-
Field values may
contain anything you want. But don't over do things, as some web sites
enforce limitation regarding the maximum number of characters some specific
field values should contain
Before using your
profile
data information to fill forms online, test it offline to ascertain
that the values are exactly what you want.

Will
your software automatically search google and go down the list of web sites
and submit my content into each websites form automatically?
No,
because FormZila is not a crawler-robot. However, you can use FormZila
to automatically log into your online account without first opening the
website's start page (where login form normally is located).
-
In the main program
second window, select the necessary form data file (if there are no files
displayed yet, then you must click "Show All/Reset" button to show
the list of all available form data files)
-
Right-click your
mouse to bring out the context menu
-
Select and click
the item that says "Go-Fill-Submit"
Hints:
"Go"
- will only open the website's start page (where login form is located)
"Go-Fill"
- will open the website's start page, auto fill the login form, but will
not submit it.

How
can I verify that FormZila saved and encrypted my form data information,
making it secure and protected from theft?
The
first and foremost functions of FormZila are autofill, autosave
and/or autosubmit web forms. But because of widespread occasions
of ID theft and computer hacking, data security and privacy issues are
almost becoming a necessity, especially while online. FormZila offers
simple, but highly effective privacy protection features to help guard
against data corruption, intrusion and identity theft, online or offline.
One of such features is data encryption technology
FormZila
uses fairly strong encryption scheme to encrypt form data before saving
them to your disk for future use. When you start FormZila, the data
files are decrypted, loaded into memory. When you exit the program they
are again encrypted and saved. Therefore even if anyone stole the files
containing your forms data, he/she can not decipher the content, because
the characters have no arbitrary meaning. Only FormZila can understand
the special characters, decode and use them.
To verify this,
-
exit from the program
-
locate the directory
where FormZila has been installed and then the FormData folder
(if you have installed the program in the default directory, then it should
read thus: C:\Program Files\FormZila\FormData)
-
select any of the
files located in the FormData
folder and open it with text editor
to see the content
-
what do you see?
Caution:
only view, do not edit any of the files, otherwise it will be corrupted.

In
silent mode FormZila automatically detects a form on a just loaded web
page, but FormZila does not pop-up its main window from the system tray
so that I can auto fill the form?
There
are various reasons why FormZila may not pop-up from the system
tray even after form detection.
1. When you fill
a form, FormZila memorizes the URL (address) of the
web page containing the form and will not pop-up for the particular web
page again, even if you download a fresh copy of the page. Of course, FormZila
will
detect the form on the new page and add it to the list in the table. So
if you want FormZila to pop-up for the second page, then you must
click the FormZila blinking icon in the system tray to bring up
the main window, where you can access necessary form manipulation functions.
2.
FormZila
will
not pop-up from the system tray for web pages with forms having less than
2 empty fields. This is the default behavior, but you can override it by
specifying a different number in the options and settings section of the
program (Forms and PassCards | Program behavior). For reference:
most login forms have at least 3 fields.
3. FormZila
may
not pop-up after form detection if you have specified so in your options
and settings customization page. Remember, after form detection,
FormZila
can AutoFill and
AutoSubmit forms even without asking you
or showing any message to inform you - it all depends on the option(s)
you have specified in the customization page (Forms and PassCards |
Program behavior).

and certain the URL address has not changed since the last time you visited
the site.
How
to restore FormZila to normal state if/when it hangs (freezes)
Although
FormZila comes with built-in exception handling routines, we
are all human beings and are prone to making mistakes. Some of the mistakes
may lead to errors, which FormZila may not be able to track
down and fix, thus leading to hang-ups and freezes. Some of the typical
mistakes that can lead to
FormZila hanging (freezing) up are:
1. When
you prematurely abort a web page that is still loading or close your browser
while FormZila is still busy detecting form on the page.
2. When you
command FormZila to "Go-Fill" or "Go-Fill-Submit"
a form, but before the expedition of your command you decide to initiate
another command simultaneously, for example, "Test My profile" or
"Fill
Form Only"
In such cases erorr
messages such as "Busy... wait a moment and try again later" or
"RPC
(Remote Procedure Call)" may be displayed by FormZila.
If the error
message is "Busy..", then wait some additonal seconds or click "Show
All/Reset" button to abort the process.
If FormZila
fires
RPC error message, that means you have prematurely aborted a web page
that is still loading or close your browser while FormZila
was busy detecting form on the page. To bring FormZila back to normal
state, do one of the following:
1. In the filelist
box, select any file (diferrent from your Profile Data file) and
double-click it. This will initiate a new instance of your web browser.
Wait for the web page with form to completely download with the form.
In most cases this is enough to correct the RPC error.
2. Click "Show
All/Reset" button.
3. Exit from
FormZila
and run it again.
For more information
about Remote Procedure Call (RPC) errors, see also Microsoft
Help and Support page http://support.microsoft.com/kb/838428
How
to set time interval between form detection and Auto fill /Auto Submit
If you often
use "Go-Fill" or "Go-Fill-Submit" functions, then you should
consider specifying the appropriate time interval between web page download
and form auto filling and auto submission. If you fail to do this,
then FormZila may not be able to auto fill and autosubmit form,
even after the web page containing the form has been successfully downloaded
in your browser. Because FormZila needs some time to:
-
analyze the web
page
-
detect the form
-
go through your
previously saved form data files, select the exact one that matches the
form
-
auto fill the form
and then
-
auto submit the
form
By default, the
average time interval required for this is 10000 milliseconds (10
seconds) - for internet connection speed of 56kb/sec. After the time interval
has elapsed, FormZila will quit the process and will only add the
web page to the list of pages containing forms, so you can select and click
it to fill and/or submit.
So if you have
a slower internet connection speed, then you should increase the
interval to a higher value. Conversely, if you have a faster connection
speed, then you may want to decrease the interval.
You can specify
maximum time-out value for form detection in the Options
| Program Behavior... | Forms and PassCards | Behavior tab.
Special
Notes:
Appropriate
time-out value will also depend on the speed of the server, location, traffic,
